Round Table 19 Numbers Meetings usually begin with a pretour, the length of which can vary between one and five days depending on the location, travel distances, and the organizational capacity of the hosting table. This time offers participants the opportunity to explore the local culture, gain new impressions, and strengthen international fellowship in a more informal setting before the official program begins.

On Friday evening, the traditional Welcome Evening takes place. It is a special moment to reconnect with old friends, as many participants have been attending Numbers Meetings for decades and see each other regularly at these gatherings. Guests often bring small specialties or typical products from their home countries to share, creating a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. It is also customary for the participating tables to prepare small performances or entertaining contributions to amuse the other attendees, adding creativity and humor to the evening.

Saturday usually features a daytime activity organized by the Home Host or carried out as a group. This may include visits to local companies, cultural institutions, or regional landmarks, providing insight into the host country’s economy, history, and traditions. On Saturday afternoon, the Presidents Meeting is held, bringing together the table presidents to discuss current topics, exchange experiences, and strengthen cooperation between the tables. During this meeting, it is also decided where the next Numbers Meeting will take place and what the corresponding framework conditions and rules will be.

Saturday evening is often marked by a Gala Night, frequently attended by invited external guests. Speeches by local personalities from business or politics give the evening a formal and ceremonial character, while still maintaining the spirit of fellowship that defines the Numbers Meeting.

The event traditionally concludes on Sunday with a Farewell gathering before participants depart in all directions, taking with them new impressions, renewed friendships, and strengthened international bonds.

Round Table 19 Numbers Meetings are generally open, welcoming, and family friendly events. Many participants travel with their partners and sometimes with their children, making the gathering not only a fellowship event but also a shared family experience.

Also, the meetings are open to external participants. Especially during selected program points such as the Gala Night, representatives from local business or politics, as well as regional office holders, are often invited to attend.

A well established tradition takes place on Friday during the Welcome Evening. Many tables bring local specialties from their home countries, both in solid and liquid form, to share with the other participants. The atmosphere can resemble a small Nations Night, where culinary traditions become part of the international exchange.

It is also customary for each table to prepare a small performance or entertaining contribution to present during the Friday Welcome Night evening, adding humor, creativity, and a touch of friendly competition.

As many attendees have known each other for decades, storytelling plays an important role throughout the weekend. Numerous shared experiences and long standing friendships lead to a wealth of anecdotes, which remain engaging even when some stories are told more than once.

It is not uncommon for a table to volunteer to host a Numbers Meeting in connection with a significant anniversary or alongside a major service project, combining celebrations or charitable efforts with the international gathering to create an even more memorable experience.

A distinctive tradition often initiated by the South African participants is the declaration of the event as a Buffalo Zone at the very beginning of the meeting. In many cases, a participant is also inducted into the Buffalo Club during the weekend.

Regarding beverages, alongside the classic Round Table signature drink Gin and Tonic, Brandy and Coke is considered one of the customary drinks of the meeting.

Another characteristic feature of RT19 Numbers Meetings is home hosting. A large proportion of participants do not stay in hotels but are accommodated by members of the local Round Table or Old Tablers to   strengthens personal bonds and reflects the spirit of friendship and international fellowship that defines the Numbers Meetings.

Over the years, some Presidents Meetings have developed their own legendary character. On certain occasions in the past, meetings were even held bare chested. One well known example took place in Imatra, Finland, in temperatures well below minus ten degrees Celsius. The idea behind this unusual setting was simple: to ensure that discussions were kept concise, focused, and efficiently concluded.

It has become customary for the Finnish tablers of RT19 Imatra, in keeping with their national culture, to ensure that there is always an opportunity to enjoy a sauna during a Numbers Meeting. As sauna culture is not equally common in every host country, the Finnish brothers have on several occasions taken the initiative to bring their own mobile sauna in the form of a traditional sweat tent. This portable setup is assembled repeatedly throughout the weekend, allowing for spontaneous sauna sessions.

The baton for the RT 19 Numbers Meeting is an alphorn. Thankfully, the alphorn can be taken apart for transport. At the gala dinner on Saturday evening, the host of each Numbers Meeting passes it on to the host of the next meeting. How the host transports the alphorn and keeps it safe for the next year and a half is entirely up to them. Nobody knows exactly when this tradition started. After the Numbers Meeting in 2018, the alphorn was lost and disappeared. During the preparations for the Numbers Meeting 2026, it was finally found again in a cellar in Lindesberg, Sweden. A Tabler then transported it by car to Konstanz, where it was ceremonially handed over to the Norwegian team for the Numbers Meeting 2028.
