Round Table Italy

Following the devastating earthquake in the night of the 6th of April 2009, which caused 309 deaths, over 1600 injuries, over 80.000 people displaced and damages to the excess of 10 billion Euros, the local table RTIT 26 L’Aquila together with Round Table Italia, Round Table International, the other clubs of the Round Table Family and other, around 180, benefactors financed the construction of a multifunctional centre to give a new home to the voluntary associations of the city.

La construction a commencé en août 2010 et l’inauguration a eu lieu le 16 juillet 2011. Sur plus de 1 000 mètres carrés, le centre abrite une salle de réunion de 96 places, plusieurs salles de réunion plus petites et un dortoir de 15 lits. Au cours des deux premières années, plus de 180 associations différentes ont utilisé les installations, avec une moyenne de 4.000 personnes utilisant les installations par mois. Cela atteste de l’importance de ce centre social après la dévastation causée par le tremblement de terre.
