EMA : Région Europe, Méditerranée et Amériques (1991-2016)

The European, Mediterranean and Americas’ Region, abbreviated to “E,M+A” or “EMA” was a region within RTI.

E&M becomes EMA Region (1991)

En 1991, Round Table International a été reconstitué, ce qui a entraîné une révision des stratégies régionales afin d’organiser et de soutenir au mieux les associations Round Table dans le monde entier.

The EMA Region replaced the former E&M Region, which was part of WOCO, and incorporated the Americas so as to be in a better situation to support them within this renewed RTI.

In a 1992 Newsletter,  with a title “E+M Region of WOCO becomes E,M+A Region of RTI”, then RTI VP Cees Verweij wrote:

Our region leaves WOCO and creates a RTI Region with the Americans. This is to avoid that other associations join our regional meetings and to simplify the structure as we do not have any Apex Clubs or Active 20/30 of JECC to join our Region. Besides that we want to support RT USA by inviting them to join our Region in RTI as was decided in Harare. In Round Table International we can discuss our Table items as membership, expansion, international friendship, number meetings and twinning. I am looking forward to meeting many of you in May, June and September.

Thus the role of E&M Regional Chairman within WOCO was replaced with an EMA Regional Chairman with RTI. Starting with the Conseil d'administration de RTI 2004-2005, the role of EMA Chairman was to include the role of CSO.

The region coexisted with the Africa Region and Région Asie-Pacifique, covering a considerable number of Associations over multiple continents.

  Réunions sous-régionales

  Lors des réunions des tabliers de l’EMA, des réunions plus restreintes étaient organisées pour les associations des pays nordiques, d’Europe centrale et du Sud. Depuis 2005, ces sous-régions organisent leurs propres réunions régionales des tabliers, accueillies par l’une des associations membres.

    • CTM - Central Tablers Meeting (Réunion centrale des tablées) (2005-2015)
    • STM - South Tablers Meeting (Réunion des tablées du Sud) (2005-2016)

    La région EMA devient trois (2016)

    

    The EMA dissolved in 2016 and was replaced by three newly defined Régions RTI, namely:

    • • Southern European Mediterranean
      • Central and Eastern Europe and
      • Northern Europa and Americas.

    These join a redefined Région Afrique, Moyen-Orient et Océan Indien and the Région Asie-Pacifique, for a total of 5 regions covering all of the RTI associations.

    The EMA Tabler’s Meeting was no longer required, as its function was replaced with the RTI AGM and IROs meetings. The subregional meetings of the CTM, NTM and STM were replaced with regional Tablers Meetings for each of the newly defined regions.

    Le rôle du CSO au sein du conseil d’administration de RTI est devenu un poste à part entière.

    Avec trois nouveaux présidents régionaux, chacune de leurs fonctions a été représentée par une nouvelle chaîne de fonctions RTI. Les anciennes chaînes de fonction du président de l’EMA n’ont pas pu être utilisées, car elles portaient clairement le nom de la fonction. Ces bijoux du président de l’EMA sont conservés dans le but d’être exposés dans un musée RTI.
