Since its founding, the motto of Round Table is “Adopt, Adapt, Improve”. This guiding motto, reflects its commitment to continuous growth, innovation, and relevance.
-
- Adopt – Embrace new ideas, best practices, and successful initiatives from within and outside the Round Table community.
- Adapt – Modify and refine these ideas to fit local needs, cultural contexts, and evolving challenges.
- Improve – Implement changes that enhance the organization, strengthen community service efforts, and foster personal and leadership growth among members.
This philosophy ensures that Round Table remains dynamic, evolving with the times while staying true to its core values of fellowship, service, and leadership.
Origin
The motto is derived from a speech made to the British Industries Fair in 1927 by the then HRH Prince Edward, Prince of Wales;
“The young business and professional men of this country must get together round the table , adopt methods that have proved so sound in the past, adapt them to the changing needs of the time, and wherever possible, improve them”.
It is said that this speech quickened Louis Marchesi’s enthusiasm, and led to a meeting at Suckling House in Norwich on 14th March 1927 at which “Round Table” was formed.
