History of RT Romania (RTRO)

1995: RT8, RT9

RT 8 Craiova (by RT 2 Drobeta Turnu Severin and RT 61 Oudenaarde, Belgium) and RT 9 Câmpulung Muscel (by RT 4 Suceava and RT 19 Tourcoing, France) were chartered. Dan Souca participated in AGM France — Deauville, while Dumitru Bociu and Constantin Cismaru attended AGM Switzerland — Interlaken.

A strong delegation, including Dan Bicleșanu, Dan Popa, Ruslan Oprescu, Victor Pană, Augustin Corneanu, Mircea Oprescu, Dănuț Aribăsoiu, Gheorghe Nuță, Gabriel Oprescu, and Mugurel Majina, attended AGM Holland.

Dan Souca and Mihai Gyapjas attended the IRO’s Meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus, where RT Romania presented its first candidacy for hosting the IRO’s Meeting in 1997.

A humanitarian project involved transporting supplies from RT 326 and LC Ashbourne to the Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital. Internationally, our tablers attended Euro 11 (Brugge, Belgium). Mihai Gyapjas also participated in the National Committee RT Belgium in Brussels, while Dezideriu Bodis and George Petrescu attended AGM Germany in Munich. George Petrescu also attended AGM Hungary in Budapest.

1996

Viorel Seredenciuc and George Petrescu attended AGM Austria — Vienna. At the IRO’s Meeting in Budapest, Hungary, Mihai Gyapjas and Remus Dancea forwarded Romania’s candidacy for the IRO’s Meeting in 1998. Ruslan Oprescu and George Petrescu attended AGM RT Finland in Jyväskylä.

Dan Souca participated in SEM (Arlon, Belgium). RT 4 Suceava and RT 43 Teramo, Italy, fraternized. Mihai Gyapjas attended AGM Belgium in Leuven, while Adrian Verde met tablers from RT 9 Utrecht and RT 83 Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Our tablers also attended Euro RT 8 in Graz, Austria, and Euro RT 10 in Lappeenranta, Finland. RT 11 Brașov was chartered by RT 5 Săcele and RT 11 Villach, Austria.

1997

The year began with an important event: affiliation to the third SEM during the meeting held in Siena, Italy, on February 20–23.

After the chartering of RT 12 Galați (by RT 9 Câmpulung Muscel and RT 43 Teramo, Italy), participation in international events continued. At the IRO’s Meeting in Gdańsk, Poland, Dumitru Boicu and Remus Dancea forwarded Romania’s candidacy for the IRO’s Meeting 1999. However, the bid was lost to the USA. Mihai Gyapjas attended AGM RTBI in Scarborough.

Dan Souca attended AGM France in Belfort, Adrian Verde participated in AGM Germany in Bielefeld, and Dumitru Boicu attended AGM Switzerland in Neuchâtel, where he met tablers from RT 6 Neuchâtel, RT 12 Sion, RT 2 Geneva, RT 36 Locarno, and RT 14 Chur.

Another twinning took place between RT 6 Brașov and RT 6 Limassol, Cyprus. The Euro RT 10 was held in Bucharest, Romania. The project “The Children of Brașov”, organized in association with Tablettes in Laval, France, continued at the orphanage in Homorod. RT Romania and Ladies Circle 3 Brașov developed a project in Belgium for children in a music school.

1998

A year filled with meetings: Dumitru Boicu, Remus Dancea, and Nicolae Borcea attended SEM in Lausanne, Switzerland, in February. In April, Mihai Gyapjas participated in Euromeeting 10 in Mass Tour and AGM ARTSA in Durban, South Africa.

In May, Nicolae Borcea attended AGM RTBI in Birmingham. In June, Mihai Gyapjas participated in AGM Germany in Schwerin and EMATM in La Rochelle, France, alongside Dumitru Boicu and Remus Dancea. During this event, Mihai Gyapjas’s candidacy for Secretary of EMA was forwarded. Adrian Verde visited Mass Tour, Germany, and tablers from RT 1 and RT 11 participated in the Euro Ski Meeting in Kitzbühel, Austria. Mihai Gyapjas also attended AGM Austria in Kufstein.

A significant event was the first chartering of a foreign club by a Romanian table: RT 7 Debrecen was chartered by RT 7 Oradea. Romanian tablers also attended Euromeeting 8 in Frankfurt, Germany, Euromeeting 10 in Aberdeen, Scotland, and Euromeeting 6 in Landskrona, Sweden, as part of a Euro Bike Tour through several countries.

1999

In February, Nicolae Borcea and Remus Dancea attended SEM in Laval, France. In spring, RT Romania participated in AGM Switzerland, AGM Austria in Seckau/Graz (Mihai Gyapjas), AGM Germany in Weiden (Nicolae Borcea), and AGM France in Rennes (Adrian Verde, Dan Tîrlescu, Toma Lazăr).

A significant milestone was the first regional twinning between the 1st Region Brașov and the 18th Region Corse — Côte d’Azur, France. RT Romania attended various international meetings: Euro RT 1 in Brussels, Belgium; Euro RT 6 in Riihimäki, Finland; Euro RT 8 in Craiova, Romania; Euro RT 11 in Brașov, Romania; and Euro RT 12 in Leibnitz, Austria.
