Unicorn Club is for supporters of an alcohol-free lifestyle, for those who drink responsibly, and for those who occasionally enjoy a night without alcoholic drinks – without needing to explain it.
The Unicorn also spreads awareness that excessive use of alcohol is not ok.
Membership Pin
Unicorn Pin “Ancient”
The “Ancient” Unicorn-Club-Pin is a sign of awareness that when we meet, friendship should be in the center of things, not drinking. Wearing the pin means that you drink responsibly, that nobody has to justify why they’re not drinking, and nobody is pressured into drinking. The Pin is meant to spread awareness.
For those who want to show that they don’t drink alcohol at all, there is a Shiny-Golden Unicorn Pin.
Unicorn Pin “Shiny-Golden”
The “Shiny-Golden” Unicorn-Club-Pin is for those who want to show that they don’t drink alcohol at all. While some see this as a strict show of “never drinking alcohol”, others wear the Shiny Pin for Nights where they don’t drink. There is no unicorn Police.
Limited Edition: “Ancient Silver and Shiny Silver”
To meet the need to produce more Unicorn Pins, a limited edition of silver pins has been released leading up to the RTIWM 2024 in Maastricht, available to pre-orders of 20+ pins.
Origin
The idea of the club started off as an April Fool’s joke, published on RTI’s facebook page on April 1st, 2023. The post read as follows:
Introducing the Unicorn Club!
To add to an arsenal of fun & fellowship-targeted traditions, the Unicorn Club aims to supplement the Buffalo Club globally.
As the same rules apply, you can now “Unicorn” your fellow Tablers at work, school functions or even at the movies. The Club will only apply to inducted (Unicorn) Members, & alcohol-free beverages.
The pin’s design is being finalised & further communication will follow.
Here’s to another great tradition & to getting “Unicorned!”
