The Rainbow Children’s Village is a landmark community service project located in Harare, Zimbabwe. Developed through a partnership between Round Table Zimbabwe and the Meikles Foundation, it serves as a transitional halfway home for children recovering from cancer treatment.

Established on the former site of Round Table Zimbabwe’s national clubhouse, the project represents a profound act of selflessness. The organization willingly demolished its own clubhouse to make space for a facility that would have far greater meaning and impact: a safe, warm, and supportive place for vulnerable children undergoing cancer treatment.

Prior to the establishment of the Rainbow Children’s Village, young patients receiving chemotherapy at Parirenyatwa Hospital, Zimbabwe’s largest public medical facility, were discharged immediately after their sessions. Many had to rest or recover in the hospital car park, often in cold and unsafe conditions. Recognizing this heartbreaking reality, Round Table Zimbabwe mobilized efforts to create a more dignified alternative.

As of the latest phase, the project has reached Phase 3 of construction, with over USD 2 million raised and invested into building and maintaining the facility. The Rainbow Children’s Village now offers essential shelter, care, and a home-like environment for children and their caregivers, particularly those traveling from distant parts of the country. It bridges the critical gap between hospital treatment and home recovery, providing much-needed comfort during a vulnerable time.

The initiative stands as a testament to the values of compassion, community service, and long-term impact. For Round Table Zimbabwe, the Rainbow Children’s Village is not only a flagship project but also a lasting legacy that showcases what can be achieved through purposeful collaboration and collective goodwill.
