The event involves releasing large numbers of numbered rubber ducks into a river or stream, with the current carrying them downstream to a designated finish line. Spectators sponsor individual ducks, and prizes are awarded to the sponsors of the first ducks to cross the finish.

Duck races attract families and children, making them popular summer events that combine entertainment with fundraising. They are often held alongside fairs, picnics, or other outdoor activities, creating a festive atmosphere while raising money for local charitable causes.
