History
Main Article: Detail on the history of Round Table Romania, by year
Founded in 1990, Round Table Romania emerged from the efforts of Gheorghe Floroi and a small group of visionaries who sought international connections and support from Round Table France. The club’s chartering in October 1990 in Brașov marked the beginning of an era of expansion, with new clubs quickly established across Romania. Throughout the 1990s, Romanian tablers actively engaged in international networking, attending European and global meetings, strengthening ties with clubs in France, the UK, and beyond. The organization played a key role in the re-establishment of Round Table International and fostered friendships with clubs worldwide. By the mid-90s, the club had become a strong presence in the international tabling community, hosting and participating in key events.
In the 2000s and beyond, Round Table Romania continued its rapid growth and international influence, hosting major events like the World IRO’s Meeting and EMATM. Despite challenges such as club closures, the organization remained committed to service projects, including humanitarian aid and social initiatives such as the Christmas Convoy. Expanding its footprint, the club fostered cross-border partnerships, chartered new clubs domestically and internationally, and successfully hosted RTIWM 2019 in Brașov, one of the largest Round Table International events in a decade. By 2023, Round Table Romania had established itself as a leading association in the European tabling network, recognized for its active engagement in global meetings, charity efforts, and continued expansion efforts.
