ACART – Atlantic Coast Association of Round Tables
Not much known about this association. What I could trace was that this association was formed in 1981 with the help of RTBI and RT Senegal. The association was formed as one association for West Africa, combining the existing four associations that existed in West Africa, namely RT Ghana, RT Ivory Coast, RT Nigeria and RT Sierra Leone, thus creating the Atlantic Coast Association of Round Tables, known as ACART.
The founding Tables of this newly created association were the following:
-
- RT 1 Accra, Round Table Ghana
- RT 1 Abidjan, Round Table Ivory Coast
- RT 1 Lagos, Round Table Nigeria
- RT 2 Ikeja, Round Table Nigeria
- RT 1 Freetown, Round Table Sierra Leone
For the record:
-
- RT 1 Accra, RT Ghana was chartered by RTBI 500 Leicester (RTBI) in 1963.
- RT 1 Abidjan, RT Ivory Coast was chartered around 1977 by a table from RT France.
- RT 1 Lagos, RT Nigeria was chartered by RTBI 525 Cardiff sometime in the beginning of 1961.
- RT 2 Ikeja, RT Nigeria was chartered around the last part of the 1960’s.
- RT 1 Freetown, RT Sierra Leone chartered around 1977.
One year after ACART was chartered and on the 10th May 1982 RT 1 Dakar and RT Senegal were chartered by RT 1 Abidjan, Ivory Coast together with RT France 213 Evian Thonon. The newly chartered association of Round Table Senegal joined ACART.
