Smokey Phoenix Grill Club (SPGC) is an unofficial sub-club founded within Round Table Belgium – Zone 2 members. It welcomes members from all five branches of the Round Table family: Round Table, 41 Club, Ladies’ Circle, Agora, and Tangent. Established to add flavour (literally) to fellowship, SPGC turns up the heat during the Belgian summer hiatus of July and August – where official meetings pause, but the grills fire up.

Built around fun, fire, and fraternity, SPGC gatherings are all about grilled food, shared drinks, and the signature fiery initiation ritual: the burning shot. While it’s not officially affiliated with Round Table International or RT Belgium, it thrives as a local tradition of camaraderie and cheeky consequence.

Joining Requirements

  • Must be a current member of RT, 41 Club, LC, Agora, or Tangent
  • Induction requires attendance at a BBQ with a Zone 2 Board or SPGC member
  • Initiation includes drinking a 40%+ alcohol burning shot (lit for 5 seconds)
  • New members must buy a round of beers for all present SPGC members

Rules at a Glance

  • 🧷 The SPGC pin must be worn at BBQs – no pin = buy a round!
  • 🔥 Food must be grilled: BBQ, open fire, Ofyr – anything goes as long as it sizzles
  • 📜 Rule changes require approval from 4 of 6 current Zone 2 Board members
  • 💑 Partners may attend meetings and enjoy food – official SPGC beers are for inducted members only

Aims & Objectives

  1. Promote interaction across the 5 Round Table family clubs during Belgium’s summer break
  2. Foster fellowship through shared love of BBQ, beer, and banter

Charity & Merchandise

SPGC pins are sold via the official Belgian Round Table shop, with all profits donated to charities focused on burn prevention and treatment. The club turns its fiery theme into meaningful impact.
