Small Hands, Big Spirit: Inside the Small Hands Club of Round Table
In a global brotherhood like Round Table, traditions, connections, and inside jokes often travel far beyond national borders. Among the many quirky and heartwarming initiatives that emerge from this unique organization, one stands out for its sheer creativity, laughter, and global reach: The Small Hands Club.
What Is the Small Hands Club?
At first glance, it might seem like an enigma. A few international Tablers gathered at a Round Table eventâIROs, National Presidents, regional chairmenâand someone pulled out a pair of tiny plastic hands. What started as a lighthearted moment quickly snowballed into a tradition. Thus, the Small Hands Club was born.
Membership isnât applied forâitâs earned, often through friendship, shared laughter, and being in the right place at the right (and slightly silly) time. The one rule? Youâve got to pose with the now-iconic small plastic hands.
Where does it come from?
Originally the Small Hands Movement and the first small hands handed out to other fellow Tablers and Ladies came from Tablers of RTDE that started roundabout 2023, in the meantime it is kind of self-perpetuating.
A Global Phenomenon
From the vineyards of France to the beaches of South Africa, the fjords of Norway to bustling city streets in India, small plastic hands have been everywhere. Members of the Small Hands Club proudly snap photos with their miniature prosthetics in all kinds of settings: formal black-tie dinners, international AGMs, backpacking adventures, and even the occasional serious meeting (with a not-so-serious twist).
Social media feeds light up with these photosâhands gripping beer mugs, giving awkward high-fives, peeking out of suit sleeves, or delicately holding national flags. Each image is a subtle symbol of the camaraderie and mischief that binds the club together.
More Than Just a Gimmick
While the plastic hands are humorous, the heart of the club is connection. These Tablers are often key players in their national or regional structures, but within the Small Hands Club, titles fade and the shared joy of brotherhood takes center stage. Itâs a celebration of the lighter side of leadership and a reminder that fun should always have a place in service and fellowship.
Join the Fun (If You Can!)
Not just anyone can join the Small Hands Clubâitâs an informal, organic network of friends. But if youâre lucky enough to be handed the tiny plastic hands at an event, know this: youâre being welcomed into a community where smiles, silliness, and shared values go hand-in-hand (literally).
So, the next time youâre at a Round Table event and spot someone with a plastic hand sticking out of their pocket or dramatically gesturing with one during a speech, donât be alarmed. Thatâs just the Small Hands Club at workâproving, once again, that small hands can carry big fellowship.
