A Mediterranean island with a rich history and strategic location, Cyprus has long been a crossroads of civilizations, blending Greek, Turkish, Armenian, and other cultural influences. Often referred to as the ā€œIsland of the Godsā€, Cyprus is about three times the size of Mallorca. Despite these divisions, the island remains a place of strong community ties and deep-rooted traditions, making it a fitting home for Round Table Cyprus (RT Cyprus).

Since the chartering of its first Table in 1978, followed by the formation of a National Association in 1980, RT Cyprus has played an active role in the international Round Table movement. Though a relatively small association, it is known for its dedicated international Tablers, who have continuously upheld the spirit of fellowship, service, and professional development. RT Cyprus has also proudly hosted several international events, proving its commitment to global engagement and strengthening its reputation in the movement.

Beyond event hosting, the contributions of RT Cyprus have been recognized multiple times, reinforcing its impact and influence within the Round Table community. With a strong foundation and an unwavering commitment to its core values, RT Cyprus continues to be a shining example of what a close-knit, passionate Table can achieve on both a local and international scale.

As a tribute to his legacy, the foundation was subsequently renamed ā€˜Children with Liver Diseases – George Psaras – Round Table’

Rondel

The Round Table Cyprus rondel features Aphrodite, the goddess from ancient Greek mythology. Goddess of beauty and love, she was born from the sea foam near Pafos. She was praised by Homer, and her image is still preserved in the Aphrodite statue in the National Museum of Nicosia. The legend of Aphrodite has influenced the culture, and her beauty inspired the Round Table members to incorporate her image into their emblem.

The colours of the rondel were inspired by the colours of the Cyprus flag.

History

Founded in 1990, Round Table Romania emerged from the efforts of Gheorghe Floroi and a small group of visionaries who sought international connections and support from Round Table France. The club’s chartering in October 1990 in Brașov marked the beginning of an era of expansion, with new clubs quickly established across Romania. Throughout the 1990s, Romanian tablers actively engaged in international networking, attending European and global meetings, strengthening ties with clubs in France, the UK, and beyond. The organization played a key role in the re-establishment of Round Table International and fostered friendships with clubs worldwide. By the mid-90s, the club had become a strong presence in the international tabling community, hosting and participating in key events.

In the 2000s and beyond, Round Table Romania continued its rapid growth and international influence, hosting major events like the World IRO’s Meeting and EMATM. Despite challenges such as club closures, the organization remained committed to service projects, including humanitarian aid and social initiatives such as the Christmas Convoy. Expanding its footprint, the club fostered cross-border partnerships, chartered new clubs domestically and internationally, and successfully hosted RTIWM 2019 in Brașov, one of the largest Round Table International events in a decade. By 2023, Round Table Romania had established itself as a leading association in the European tabling network, recognized for its active engagement in global meetings, charity efforts, and continued expansion efforts.

Rondel

The Endless Column is part of the Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin BrĆ¢ncuși in the city of TĆ¢rgu Jiu, located in the Oltenia province. It was built in 1938 and symbolizes the concept of infinity and the endless sacrifice of Romanian soldiers.

The sculpture consists of 15 rhomboidal modules, with a half-unit at both the top and bottom, totaling 16 elements. The incomplete top unit is believed to represent the idea of infinity—a symbolic link between Earth and Sky. The column stands 29.35 meters tall and is made of cast iron.

Since 2013, it has served as the symbol of Round Table Romania.

Previous Version

Prior to that, the symbol at its center was the national flag.
