For 70 years, this Association, made up of one club has survived and thrived in the most remote corner of Round Table. This alone is a testament to the great Tabling spirit of these brothers in Paramaribo.

The Table was formed on 14 July 1955 by Dutch Tablers. The country was known as Dutch Guiana; thus, Round Table Dutch Guiana was established. Following the country’s independence, the association was renamed to reflect the new name of the state—Round Table Suriname. 

The close connection between RT Suriname and RT The Netherlands remains to this day, especially reinforced by direct airline connections, a common language, and the presence of Dutch Tables in the Caribbean. 

While it has no current interest in growing much larger itself, RT Suriname is seen as the backbone of potential growth in South America and in the Caribbean+ region.

The Association

The Association has always consisted of one Table, located in Paramaribo. 

The Chairman and IRO of the club, are recognized as the National President and National IRO for RTSU.

The name is derived from the Sranan Tongo word for “Ghost” — bubu. The first lady to drink this cocktail reported said that it was so strong, it made her see ghosts.

Rondel

The RTSU rondel features the same king as one finds in the RTNL rondel, showing the organization’s heritage.

In the middle charge, it features petals of the Faja Lobi, the national flower of Suriname! Faya Lobi literally means Passionate Love.

Round Table Trinidad and Tobago (RTTT) was chartered by Round Table Suriname 1 Paramaribo on September 10th, 2016, officially joining Round Table International (RTI) and the Northern Europe and Americas (NEA) region. Built on the strong foundations of brotherhood and charity, RTTT has consistently spearheaded initiatives that foster community development and social impact.

RTTT 1 San Fernando is currently the sole club in Round Table Trinidad & Tobago. The club is based in the city of San Fernando, located in the southwestern part of the Island of Trinidad. San Fernando is unofficially called the ‘Industrial Capital’ of Trinidad and Tobago due to the oil and gas industry that is centred there.

Trinidad and Tobago, known for its rich culture, vibrant traditions, and warm, welcoming people, provides the perfect backdrop for RTTT’s spirit of service and fellowship. Though modest in size, the association stands tall in its dedication, hospitality, and commitment to building lasting bonds while giving back to the community.

RT Trinidad & Tobago has a strong foundation in charity work, having been awarded the NEAR (Northern Europe & the Americas Region) Service Project of the Year in 2020 and 2021 for their “Feed a Family” initiative. RTTT San Fernando #1 is already well-known for its community service efforts, including the “Feed a Family” project, which provides food assistance to families in need. The club has been awarded the NEAR (Northern Europe & the Americas Region) Service Project of the Year in 2020 and 2021 for this initiative. RTTT partners frequently with other NGOs to deliver food supplies to needy families across the island. Annual “back-to-school” drives and blood drives are some other non-food aid initiatives. Beyond food aid, RTTT is active year-round in organizing fundraisers and entertainment events that support local communities.

Committed to brotherhood, service, and meaningful change, RTTT continues to embody the “Adopt, Adapt, Improve” spirit, making a lasting impact across Trinidad and Tobago.

Rondel

The logo of Round Table Trinidad & Tobago San Fernando #1 features thirteen alternating red and white segments, proudly incorporating the national colours. At its centre is the image of a steel pan, the national instrument of Trinidad & Tobago, symbolising culture, rhythm, and unity.
The rondel also carries two distinctive elements that highlight the nation’s identity and spirit:

1. 1. Lighthouse – Replacing the traditional King Arthur emblem, a red and white lighthouse is depicted. This landmark, located at the entrance of Port of Spain, stands as a symbol of guidance and hope, representing a welcoming haven and endless possibilities.
   2. Scarlet Ibis – One of the national birds of Trinidad & Tobago, renowned for its vibrant red plumage, is illustrated in flight at the rondel’s centre. It signifies vitality, freedom, and the soaring aspirations of the Table.

Together, these elements create a powerful emblem that reflects both the national pride and the values of fellowship, service, and community that define the association.

Round Table USA (RT USA) was chartered over the weekend of December 31, 1982, to January 2, 1983, in New York City. The association was founded by a group of enthusiastic young professionals and community leaders of Round Table 1 New York City. This milestone event marked the expansion of the Round Table movement in the United States.

From Denmark, the RT idea spread to Sweden, where the first club was founded in Helsingborg in 1943, and RTDK has actively contributed to the founding of Round Table in Norway, Finland, Germany, Canada and the Czech Republic.

Today RTDK has around 2.400 members and 137 clubs, spanning across 8 areas covering the whole Kingdom of Denmark, with clubs also in Greenland (RT Denmark 112 Nuuk) and Faroe Islands (RT Denmark 136 Tórshavn).

Rondel

The Danish Rondel was the first rondel of all Round Table associations that doesn’t have the king at the top. Instead, it has three waves which symbolize the three seas around Denmark.
